# Best Time to Send Cold Emails in the UK

Timing matters. The same email sent at 9am on Tuesday gets 2-3x higher engagement than the same email sent at 4pm on Friday. Here's what the data says for UK B2B cold email.

Best Days

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are the top performers. Tuesday consistently wins on open rates because people have cleared their Monday backlog and are settling into the work week. Wednesday and Thursday are close behind.

Monday is average — people are catching up on weekend emails and your cold email gets buried in the pile. Friday is the worst. People are winding down and anything non-urgent gets ignored or deleted.

Never send on weekends. Even if someone opens it on Saturday, the context is wrong — they're not in work mode and won't reply.

Best Time of Day

9am-11am is the sweet spot. This is when people are at their desk, going through their inbox, and most receptive to new messages.

6am-8am can work if you're targeting business owners who check email early. Your email sits at the top of their inbox when they look.

12pm-2pm has a small secondary peak — people checking email during lunch. But open rates are 20-30% lower than the morning window.

After 3pm, engagement drops sharply. By 4pm most people have switched from "processing email" mode to "wrapping up the day" mode.

The Spacing Rule

Don't send all your emails at exactly 9:00am. Email providers notice when 200 emails leave your server at the same timestamp — it looks automated (because it is).

Space emails 30-60 seconds apart starting from 9am. A batch of 100 emails sent between 9:00am and 10:30am looks like a person sending emails throughout their morning, not a bot blasting a list.

Seasonal Patterns

January is the best month for cold email. Businesses are setting goals, reviewing suppliers, and open to new ideas. Combine January timing with a "new year, new approach" angle and you'll see your highest reply rates of the year.

September is the second-best month — similar energy to January as businesses return from summer and plan for Q4.

August and December are the worst. People are on holiday and non-urgent emails get ignored entirely. Reduce your volume in these months and save your best leads for January.

Summary

Send Tuesday to Thursday, 9am-11am, spaced 30-60 seconds apart. Avoid Mondays, Fridays, weekends, August, and December. Follow these rules and your open rates will be 40-60%.
